About Frenfinder

Frenfinder is a small registry for X (Twitter) creators who have been censored. When your account disappears, your followers have few ways to find your new one. That's the problem Frenfinder hopes to solve.

How it works

1. Register your X handle.
2. Verify ownership by putting a one-time code in the account's bio. We read the public profile page to confirm it. We do not use Oauth, nor do we login to your X account.
3. Stay findable. If you get banned, mark the old handle suspended and point followers at your current account. A suspended handle stays searchable so followers searching your old name still find you.

Free Speech

Frenfinder was made to fight censorship by enabling your followers to find your new account after an X suspension.

We will never check the content of your X account.

Privacy

Frenfinder is also a privacy first application.

We deliberately avoid collecting your email or phone number. Your identity here is your username plus the handles you've proven you control.

Additionally, we do not collect analytics, we do not use tracking cookies, nor do we use any other tracking methods.

What we actually use:

• We use a "session" cookie to store your logged-in state.
  This enables you to traverse the site without having to log in again on every page.
• We use a "CSRF-token" cookie, which protects you against cross-site-request-forgery attacks.
  It proves a submitted form came from your own browser, not from another site.
• We also temporarily store IP addresses so we're able to rate-limit certain activities on the site, mainly to avoid spam.
  IP addresses are stored in-memory only and never touch the database.

Those three are the only things we store that relate to you. Hopefully you understand why they're necessary to protect both you and the site, and provide a positive user experience.
